Hour of Power
By Dr. Craig Bentham

We all work out at the gym for one reason or another, but I'm confident that the underlying reason we work out so hard, day after day, is to experience the empowerment that comes with success! In any arena, whatever the goal may be...we want to succeed.

Therefore, our team at curveshealthclub.com has developed a system that we use on a daily basis to ensure our success in life, health, business, and relationships. You can take this information and reshape it to pertain to your own goals and dreams. If you implement this"Hour of Power" into your life, you will find success...guaranteed!

What is the"HOUR OF POWER?"

HOP is an acronym for the"hour of power", which is a tool to concentrate all of your goals and action steps into one hour a day...that's it. You simply have to focus on one hour a day. That's a fraction of the total 24 hours you have to work with.

Let's say for example that your personal goals are as follows:

1. I want to lose 20 lbs.
2. I want more energy.
3. I want to make more money.
4. I want to be healthy, so I can enjoy my grandchildren.
5. I want to decrease my stress level.

Please take a few minutes and write down 5 things that you want in your life. It can be anything. But don't just say them in your mind, you must write them down.

1. ____________________
2. ____________________
3. ____________________
4. ____________________
5. ____________________

Hopefully now you've achieved some clarity with what you want more of in your life, so let's organize these goals into a format that you'll be able to implement on a daily basis. Remember, it is only an hour a day! For instance, if your goals are similar to the five examples mentioned above, you need to divide the HOP into five sections that comprise the total hour of power.

Example:

1. Lose 20 lbs—Solution = 1/2 hour workout at Curves, 3 times a week. You've used up a 1/2 hour out of an hour total, so now you've got to break up the remaining time to cover the rest of your goals.

2. More energy—Solution = Focus on eating every two hours to improve your metabolism. It may only take 5 minutes to reflect on your day and ask yourself"Have I eaten every 2 hours or not?" Now, we only have 25 minutes left out of the HOP.

3. More money—Solution = This is a tough one. How can you condense an action plan for building financial freedom into a few minutes a day? I have my affirmations on my bathroom mirror. I spend 5 minutes every morning reading over them, and 5 minutes just before I go to bed, which equals approximately 10 minutes a day. I do this on a daily basis because I'm continuously filling my mind with goal oriented information, and training my subconscious mind to attract opportunities into my life. I'm amazed at how this one aspect has changed my life! Write down your goals and affirmations on your bathroom mirror. We only have 15 minutes left of the HOP.

4. More Healthy—Solution = I make a mental checklist and make every attempt to follow through with my health goals. I focus on taking my vitamins and minerals every day. I ensure that I'm drinking 8 glasses of water (purified) daily. I also take an omega-3 fish oil supplement, and wash it down with my powdered greens and water. This only takes approximately 5 minutes.

5. Last but not least...decrease my stress—Solution = I only have 10 minutes left of the HOP, so my solution to decrease the stress in my life is to integrate 10 minutes of meditation into my busy schedule. There are so many different forms of meditation, and you can do whatever appeals to you. But here are some examples: just close your eyes and focus on slowly breathing in and out; try stretching every muscle in your body and hold each stretch for at least 30 seconds; go to a quiet room, lie down and attempt to slow down the busy activity that's going on in your mind; or simply try a meditation CD with calming words and music.

To summarize my "Hour of Power":

1. 30 minutes = Curves workout.
2. 5 minutes = reflect on my eating habits.
3. 10 minutes = read over my affirmations.
4. 5 minutes = take my supplements, minerals and vitamins.
5. 10 minutes = meditation.
6. TOTALING ONE HOUR OF POWER!!! It's that simple!

Recipe of the Month
Lemon Thyme Roast Chicken

1.8 kg (4lb) chicken
1 bunch lemon thyme
3 lemons
1 white onion, quartered
2 tablespoons butter, softened

Preheat the oven to 400F. Rinse the chicken and pat it dry with paper towels. Scatter some of the lemon thyme over the base of a roasting tin, then generously rub the chicken skin with salt and put it on top of the lemon thyme, breast –side-up.

Halve one of the lemons and put it inside the chicken, along with the onion quarters and some lemon thyme. Rub the softened butter over the breast and put the chicken in the oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until it is cooked through. Take the chicken out and check that it is cooked by pulling a leg away from the body- the juices that run out should be clear and not pink.
Squeeze the two remaining lemons over the chicken and put it back in the oven for a further 5 minutes. Remove the chicken from the oven and allow it to rest for 10 minutes before carving. Arrange the chicken pieces on a serving platter and pour some of the lemony pan juices over them. Serves 4.
